報告主題:
Day 1 – Kick-off & Fundamentals of fusion technology
Day 2 – Materials for Fusion: a dilemma
Day 3 – Material Diagnostics & New Ideas
Day 4 – Project Development
Day 5 – Finalization & Presentations
報告簡介:
The seminar will continue one week, which is guided by the leading researchers Dr. Litnovsky Andrey and Dr.-Ing. Macias Barrientos. It is a challenge-driven seminar and provides an immersive introduction to the science and engineering of fusion energy. The participants will explore how advanced materials shape the path from fundamental plasma physics to sustainable fusion power.
Rather than following a traditional lecture format, the seminar integrates conceptual sessions, collaborative workshops, and design challenges that reflects real research environments. Students will analyze material selection for plasma-facing components, investigate diagnostic and performance evaluation methods, and develop project concepts addressing safety, efficiency, and resilience in fusion systems.
By combining scientific depth with hands-on problem-solving, the program cultivates both technical understanding and creative research thinking. Participants will leave with a clear grasp of the technological frontiers of fusion materials, and the inspiration and skills to contribute to this rapidly evolving field.
報告人簡介:
Dr. Andrey Litnovsky,Head Smart Alloy Group, Project Leader at FZJ: α-SMART-FIT project, who got Ph.D degree in Moscow State Engineering and Physics Institute (MEPhI) in 2001, being a scientist at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH since 2004. He served as a Multi‐Machine Coordinator/expert on the first mirrors investigations in the frame of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA) Joint Experiments Program. He is the Chairman of the Specialists Working Group on First Mirrors of ITPA Topical Groupon Diagnostics and undertook the leadership of several fusion research projects. His research interests include material research, surface physics, plasma physics and diagnostics, and system studies for fusion as energy source. He has published more than 160 journal papers with an H-index of 38 in Google Scholar attracting 417 citations in 2024. He contributed more than 20 invited talks at international conference and meetings, gave several lectures in Oxford University, HFUT, MEPhI, and chaired several funds over than 20.3 MEuro.
Dr. Marina Macias Barrientos is a Senior Engineer at the Chair of Materials Test Engineering (WPT), TU Dortmund University since 2016. Before joining TU Dortmund, she held scientific appointments at Ruhr-University Bochum (2007–2016) and Altai State Technical University (2001–2003). She contributes to DeepTech strategy and innovation roadmaps, supports funding acquisition, and plays an active role in German and European scientific networks. She is a member of the Junior WAW Scientific Working Group of Materials Engineering and the Materials Chain network of UA Ruhr, and has served on institutional committees related to internationalization and research strategy.
Her scientific expertise spans advanced high-performance alloys, multiscale microstructural characterization, and electron-microscopy-based microanalysis using techniques such as EBSD, FIB-SEM, ECCI, AFM, and MFM. She develops in-situ and non-destructive methods for evaluating material behavior under service-like thermal or mechanical loads and integrates these with quantitative lifetime assessment of metallic components. She has published more than 20 scientific papers.
